SSG_Theo: Hello Ghost Rider

SSG_Ghost_Rider: What’s Crackin Theo

SSG_Theo: Nothing much just interviewing you. How long have you been with SSG?

SSG_Ghost_Rider: I joined up with SSG sometime at the beginning of 2010 after months and months of SSG Jayman hitting me up to rally with his crew. Finally I caved and decided to be part of the club and, to be honest, I haven’t looked back since.

SSG_Theo: When I first came to SSG months ago you were a recruitment knight. Now your title is community Knight helping us keep on track for MKH. How has it been holding those titles?

SSG_Ghost_Rider: It has been my honor to hold titles and help out in any way possible. Most all of the overlords and quite a few of the Knights too had been my friends long before SSG even came into fruition. So blending into their system so things could run as smoothly as possible around here has, and continues to be, an enjoyable experience. As for the jobs individually I feel as if they both are very suiting to my nature. Most anyone who knows me can tell you I am extremely sociable and more than anything else I enjoy having fun, laughing, and kicking ass with my fellow Knight. Bringing new people into the shelter of our clan was fun. And now creating events to bring us all together for good games and good times has been even more fun.

SSG_Theo: Now this may be drilling into a Ghost Rider secret to success. But some of our readers, even myself, would like to know how you so quickly climbed the ranks? It is projected you’ll be top rank in a year you’ll be top rank pulling in 28,000 credits a day!

SSG_Ghost_Rider: Haha, well Theo there is no real secret to my success. I have played halo almost exclusively since I was about…15 or 16 years old. As such I have an understanding of how the base mechanics work so when Reach came out I was ready to get down to business. Once that happened I just constantly drilled into the challenges and commendation levels in the game to get those credits. Believe it or not I even stayed away from the campaign “farming” techniques until way after Bungie nerfed that method by not allowing any more credit gain after silver level was reached. Between matchmaking with my fellow Knights and hundreds upon hundreds of Grunts via score attack I have achieved a pretty solid rank in the reach system. And, aside from a few new games that I just picked up, nothing will stand in my way of reaching Inheritor someday. It’s all about the dedication to the game. And I am certainly a Halo fanatic. Even so to the point where Private Ryan and myself are creating a Dice based Halo system very similar in effect to Dungeons and Dragons. What can I say I am a giant nerd. I reckon that is why we all get along so well here, haha

SSG_Theo: A dice base Halo game? How long have you guys been working on that?

SSG_Ghost_Rider: About a week or so now I guess. We have been avid players of D&D for years and Private even went so far as to do his Honors College thesis on creating your own role playing game. I feel like we have a solid enough background between that and the amount of hours we have both logged in Halo to create an awesome game. Who knows, maybe by the time we are finished we can kick off a campaign for everyone to play with over in our Pen and Paper games forum.

SSG_Theo: Now that we are talking about real life away from the xbox. I would like to ask you to explain to us who Ghost Rider is? Who is he away from the xbox?

SSG_Ghost_Rider: Who I am in real life is very similar to who I am on LIVE. I like to hang out with my lady, my friends, and my family. Still being the jester of sorts and just having a good time in any and every way I can. I always have said that I believe life is far too short to not live every day of it as happy as you possibly can. I have an awesome job as a delivery driver for the largest Liquor distributor in South Carolina. I have a wonderful girl whom everyone also knows around these parts, good friends, and a loving family. But at the end of the day when all that work, family and friend time is over it is XBOX and my SSG family that I keep coming back to wind down with every night before bed. Do you see how it all connects? haha
SSG_Theo: haha. How did you meet Crystal?

SSG_Ghost_Rider: I met CrystLE about 3 years ago over on the Tied the Leader forums actually. We were both allies over there and somewhere between then and now we have played an ungodly amount of games together, fell in love, I have moved across the continent to be with her. We are powering through immigration and all of it’s stupidity and all in all just living life and enjoying every minute of it in the mean time.

SSG_Theo: Love being found over xbox. Every nerds dream! Well will move onto random questions now. We got two for ya the first coming from Jayman. He asks, “What made you to decide to join SSG?”

SSG_Ghost_Rider: Well, as I said before, Jay and I had been friends for quite some time before SSG ever came about. It was bound to happen in any case just because of that. The ONLY reason I didn’t join SSG on the day it was founded was because Private Ryan, Crystle, and myself had started another clan just a week or two before SSG called the Howling Commandos. At that time we even had SSG Gambit over there with us too. However the formation of two clans from the same base group of friends ending up being a bit on the silly side and as SSG had much better…everything that I did over at the Commandos site we just shut it down and decided to reunite with all the fine folks that I had so many good games with in the past. I believe the first quote on my thread after that time was Jay saying how full of win the reunion was. And, as I said before once again, I haven’t looked back since.

SSG_Theo: Thenext is from Dead Eye. He asks, “Do you like to boogie?”

SSG_Ghost_Rider: …I don’t even understand what that question entails. I call things that come out of my nose boogies. In which case I am sure I used to like them. However as an adult it is socially unacceptable to enjoy a good boogie. As such to save my own face I will say…No…I do not like to boogie. Haha

SSG_Theo: I believe it is a type of dance.

(22:07:38) SSG_Ghost_Rider: Hm, Well in that case no. I still do not like to boogie. I have about as much rhythm as the moss that grows on the side of aztec ruins. Which leads to the conclusion that I cannot dance. Which then leads to the conclusion that I do not dance.

SSG_Theo: haha. Thank you for your time. This was SSG Speaks Ghost Rider Edition!

Dalcaeus

  • So there I was. Playing Halo: Reach alone yet again. My skills never warranted any accolades, but they did foster something else. Outrage. My mediocre ability was so insulting to the other players that it wasn’t important that we won. How dare I be a casual gamer. How dare I play just for the fun and enjoyment of a game like Halo: Reach. How could it be possible that I did not care what my “K/D” value was, especially if it wasn’t as high as “pro” players. This must have something to do with my mother, for she was next on their list of hateful slurs.
  • I was close to quitting. As much as I love Halo, and playing online, it wasn’t worth my poor mother’s honor. Moreover, I did not want to lower myself to the level of those poor souls whose lives revolve around their Halo statistics. I did not want to degrade myself with hateful language and pompous demeanor in order to find a place within the world of competitive multi-player. Thankfully, I never had to.
  • After watching an interview with a member of the Good Game Network I noticed the clouds began lifting. The idea seemed preposterous. Gamers that valued other gamers, and their right to having fun? And what was this phrase, “Good Game?” Has sportsmanship somehow found it’s place on Xbox Live? Then a good thing got even better. Sword and Shield Gaming welcomed me with open arms, like an old friend long removed from an old dive bar.
  • I feel as though I have been here all along, and that I was foolish for thinking otherwise. It’s more than just gamers banding together for mutual advantage. It’s more than a need for skilled gamers to win games. This is a place of friendship and honor. Here we do not have to stand alone and be bested by foul mouthed teenagers, safe in the anonymity of the internet. Here we stand shoulder to shoulder with shields meant to keep our comrades from harm.
  • We stand together for more than just victory, but for the prospect of better gamers. Here we strive to set the example for others to follow. We show them that it’s okay to just have fun, and treat each other fairly. We endeavor to make “Good Game” a mark of honor, not a punch line.

SSG_Theo: Greetings Grant!

GrantClaunch: Hello there Theo

SSG_Theo: How did you come across the GGN or more importantly SSG?

GrantClaunch: I was searching for fun Halo videos on Youtube and came across a video from TiedTheLeader. The end of the video had a website so I checked it out, created an account, Jayman told me to check out SSG because we are both from Missouri… And then I did.

SSG_Theo: A video? What type of video were you looking up at that time?

GrantClaunch: Well, I was actually searching for Easter Eggs in Reach, so I don’t know why I clicked that video. It was about having fun no matter what and playing with your teammates instead of just playing a game – and even though it wasn’t from SSG I still noticed SSG held to the same standards that the GGN had written as a basic code of honor. In fact, after a few weeks of playing with some Knights I even invited my wife to join SSG with me because I knew SSG would be a great place for both of us.

SSG_Theo: Has bringing your wife to SSG perhaps brought you guys closer? In terms of now you both have the same friends on xbox live so you play together more often.

GrantClaunch: SSG didn’t exactly bring us closer, haha; we already played together all the time and had tons of fun just the two of us. But SSG has helped in our gaming relationship as far as Xbox Live friends. Before, I always muted everyone and never touched the mic – to me everyone was annoying. Now I am always looking for opportunities to play with a team because I know that my wife and I can enjoy a normal conversation or joke around, all with other people who aren’t obnoxious. For both of us this is less frustration and more fun times – and I always enjoy seeing my wife laugh and smile.

SSG_Theo: I would like to move this interview into a more personal story. Who is Grant in real life? What does he do outside of gaming?

GrantClaunch: My real name is Grant Claunch. I went to the University of Kansas for 2 years studying Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. I changed my major to Youth Ministry and also moved to Missouri to go to Baptist Bible College. I enjoy building & fixing computers/laptops, building & designing websites, and don’t care for Mac’s. Also I really like teaching kids, as so far I have been able to spend a year tutoring math & reading to elementary kids and during the past 3 summers I have worked as a counselor at a summer camp. I also like to play tennis, guitar, piano, and playing with my puppy.

SSG_Theo: Ah yes the puppy. What is thy puppies name again?
GrantClaunch: Lily

SSG_Theo: Cute. How long have you and Irish been together?
GrantClaunch: 4 months

SSG_Theo: How long before marriage? And tell me a bit about the relationship if you could. This is the month of love.

GrantClaunch: We were together for 2 years before we got married and we were good friends even before then. We met at Baptist Bible College and neither of us had a vehicle so we hung out in the Student Center a lot because guys and girls weren’t allowed near each other’s dorms. Since Springfield is a moderately boring city we didn’t have many options for dates – so we had to improvise. We learned to play the piano and tennis together without anyone teaching us and that was a lot of fun because we were both learning new things while forming a closer relationship. We also worked together in the school’s cafeteria so we were pretty much together all the time.

SSG_Theo: How did you two meet?

GrantClaunch: I was hanging out with some of my friends after church and she was there too. She was very quiet because she’s shy, but regardless I was able to get her to talk by making fun jokes about her not being able to understand English (because she wasn’t talking much haha).

SSG_Theo: haha nice. May be a bit early in the marriage but will we see Grant and Tulip jr’s walking around taking over the Halo world! Anytime in the next decade?

GrantClaunch: I guess sometime during the next decade haha, but plans are to wait a bit.

SSG_Theo: haha. Now I am going to go to my random question section. Today we got a question from your wife Irish she asks, “If you could live out any music video, which one would you choose?”

GrantClaunch: Sorry, that’s a fun and difficult question and my wife didn’t tell me ahead of time

A few moments passed….

GrantClaunch: I told my wife that’s a mean question because it was so difficult haha, since I don’t watch too many music videos. I’d have to say What’s My Age Again by Blink-182. Who wouldn’t want to go streaking through a whole town knocking random stuff over?

SSG_Theo: True true. Thank you for your time sir. This was SSG Speaks: GrantClaunch Love edition.

DSL in Real Life

SSG_Theo: Greetings Dark

DarkStrobeLight: Why hello there theo!

SSG_Theo: Now I believe you and I were apprentices together. How did you find SSG?

DarkStrobeLight: Well, to start at the beginning. I was trying to rank up in H3 in team swat, but I could never find a group of friends to do that with. Around the same time as my frustration was building up Bungie posted news about the Running Riot Podcast featuring DeeJ from the GGN. I made a couple jokes and they took notice of me, DeeJ told me to go make a profile on the GGN forums and he’d get me set up in a clan. One of the first clans to post and invite me in was SSG. I haven’t really found a group to do swat with, but I think I found more than I even knew I was looking for.

SSG_Theo: So you would say joining SSG has really broadened your gaming experience?

DarkStrobeLight: Definitely. Typically in H3 I found myself going in alone. I hardly ever touched BTB. Now that I’m with SSG I always have someone on my friends list playing the game that I am. Now including Call Of Duty, which I would probably never have realized how much fun it is. Especially with friends.

SSG_Theo: Now If I understand correctly you made a map recently. One with many different dimensions. What was your inspiration for making that map?

DarkStrobeLight: Well, the idea was taken from a map in Halo 3. I can’t think of the name at the moment. This map was set on an angle just like mine. However it was alot smaller. I’ve never been a forger but I like the idea of that map so much I thought I’d run with it. Thanks to SSG and MANY play tests I think I got the map to a playable state that a lot of people seem to enjoy.

SSG_Theo: Very interesting. Yes the map is very fun to play on. Now I am pretty sure the readers know the gamer DSL. I would like to touch on a more personally level of who DSL is. What do you do away from the controller?

DarkStrobeLight: Well right now I would call myself a student. I’m enrolled in Kirkwood Community College in Iowa. My major is Graphic Web Design, which will be done in 2 more terms, than I plan on going for Graphic Design. I would say I’m a single father if it wasn’t for all the help that my Girl Friend, Anna, is. She’s basically stepped up from day one and has been a mother to my daughter. Isobel, my daughter, is 3 years old. She is really one of the main motivations in my life. She’s extremely naughty and silly and cute all at the same time. Speaking of Anna, I’ve yet to announce to the clan: I’m having another baby! Anna is 9 weeks pregnant right now. Anna is awesome, she is about as much motivation as Isobel. Always keeping me in check and on top of things, she even makes me a better father.

SSG_Theo: Cute! I’m happy for you man. Are you guys going to wait to find out the gender or will you be finding out in a month or so?

DarkStrobeLight: I’d rather not know, but she wants to. So, we’re going to find out, she said she wouldn’t tell me but all the gifts coming in are going to give it away. So… I’m just giving in. I’m excited!

SSG_Theo: haha. I am sure you are. How are the Graphic Design Classes coming along?

DarkStrobeLight: Really good. I’m sitting at a B average right now. I even made the deans list over the summer, which makes you feel real good. I actually designed a website for my final project in my web design principals class rongintherphotography.com I did all the design and edited all the images for him.

SSG_Theo: Good work! Very Impressive. Its coming time to wrap up. But we got two random questions to ask you. The first one is from SSG Deadeye: What is DSL’s favorite place to go on a family vacation?

DarkStrobeLight: Vacation? I haven’t had one of those in a while. But when I was a kid I think the coolest place we ever went was Wisconsin Dells. Noahs Ark was a blast, and they have a lot of cool things to do all over town.

SSG_Theo: This next one is from SSG Jayman: What’s your favorite non-Xbox gaming platform?

DarkStrobeLight: Honestly I wasn’t much of a gamer before the Xbox. H3 was really the first game that I ever got into. But to go back to my childhood, I have fond memories of Mario 2 and Mario 3 on Nintendo. But other than that I play games on my computer now and than.

SSG_Theo: Thank you for your time DSL. Congrats on the big news!!! This was SSG Speaks: DarkStrobeLight NEW YEARS! Edition!

Raptzor

The castle was in it’s busiest time of the year. All knights were gathering supplies for the holiday season and of course gathering the last of the crops to grow before winter time. Irishtulip and her fellow archer Crystle were setting up a line of targets to practice their archery skills before the harsh winter hindered their ability to practice. Shot after shot rang out as the duo hit every target with ease.

After a few hours of practice the girls realized that they had one target left. At a distance of 200m the wind conditions and their own abilities made them question their ability to hit the bull’s eye on this target. First Irishtulip came up to take the shot she hit the outer area of the target.

After this Crystle walked up to the challenge looking confident in her ability to win. Her experience as an archer surely would give her an edge. Concentrated she focused on the target. After a few painful seconds she let the shot out hitting the blue ring around the bull’s eye. She let a smile pass as Irishtulip congratulated her.

Cassio and Razgriz came shortly after hearing the sounds of Irish and Crystle sharing a good laugh and passing compliments to each other. After hearing what had happened both Cassio and Razgriz felt a need to show off their own abilities. Both of them shot out and noticed that they had tied each other in score. Codemonkey also hearing the noise decided to take a break from working and to enjoy the presence of friends.

In the silents, an apprentice lay in waiting to make his own shot. Slowly he moved through unnoticed by the knights. This was his chance to impress the best and hopefully be able to make it into the Knights core group. More importantly the archers. When the sound of all 5 of them laughing was loud enough to cover his rush in he moved in bow and arrow ready.  Cassio was the first to notice the eager apprentice. “Hello Good Sir!” He yelled at but Raptzor had not noticed he moved on with all eyes directed at him. With a quick jump he let out his arrow with the force of a man three times his size. All watched where the arrow would land.

When the others moved in closer to examine where the shot landed they noticed something remarkable. The arrow landed directly on where Crystles arrow had landed. Raptzor looked over to Codemonkey and the rest of the Knights. With a sly smile Codemonkey said to Raptzor, “Good timing we were just talking about letting you into the castle.” He passed on a set of keys to the castle. “You sir may pick any division you want to be in. But i am sure Crystle and you will want to rematch someday and work on perfecting that shot.

————————————————————————

I have no clue what division Raptzor will pick I just went with Archer until he says anything different. He seems to like sniper rifles.

Congratz!!!!

IrishTulip & GrantClaunch

This morning Sword and Shield Gaming inducted two new knights. Unlike previous inductions, this was family event with the induction of GrantClaunch and his wife, IrishTulip.  Many guys hope for a girlfriend or wife who at least understands their gaming habits. GrantClaunch is lucky enough to have one that not only understands, but enthusiastically shares it with him.

GrantClaunch has chosen to join the ranks of our Honor Guard division.  I’m sure SSG Jayman will welcome the extra help defending the base.  Don’t assume though that in this gaming couple that GrantClaunch carried most of the weight.  IrishTulip has a dead-eye when it comes to wielding long range weapons.  A sniper in her hand is down right devastating.  Appropriately, IrishTulip has joined the ranks of our Archer division where her skills will not go unused.

Everyone give these two a warm welcome.  They’ve shown their mettle and have proven themselves quality gamers, worthy to be inducted as Knights here at Sword and Shield Gaming.

Jettstream. The Man. The Myth. The Legend.

Theolauncher: Greetings Jettstream

SSG_Jettstream: Hi Theolauncher

Theolauncher: So, how was it that you found yourself in SSG?

SSG_Jettstream: Well the whole thing was luck. I started using twitter last Winter and saw a Bungie post about something call TiedtheLeader.com. I was looking for some people to play Halo with so i gave them a shot. After awhile of hanging out there I met and played some games with Jayman and some of the other knights. We hit it off, and after a few weeks Jay asked me to come check out their site and i haven’t look back since.

Theolauncher: Now it is my understanding you were recently promoted to ‘Arbitration Templar’. What were your initial thoughts when given this job?

SSG_Jettstream: I was quite honored that the Overlords thought thought that much of me, to grant me this post also to be completely honest a little nervous.

Theolauncher: Have you been given the opportunity to put the title to action? I mean it’s your job not to go to far into detail but if you had the chance was it hard?  Explain as much of the experience as you can I suppose.

SSG_Jettstream: I just started so i’ve been reviewing a lot of stuff, but i keep my eyes and ears open and offer my help where i can. There been a couple small things nothing earth shattering, not to go into details but we all have different personalities and we all have good days and bad being part of the community like SSG we have to respect each other. The Mantra of the Good Game Network is “Good Game” which means play nice…

Theolauncher: We all know the importance of a good game. I feel we all know the SSG Jettstream but who is Jett in real life. Please inform the readers about yourself. What do you do besides playing video games?

Jett in ActionSSG_Jettstream: I’m married and have one son, I work for the provincial power utility and a Senior Network Specialist, fancy way of saying computer geek, specializing in Microsoft Windows Servers and Hardware. I used to play soccer and baseball, but my older bones don’t bounce back the way they used to… I also love reading and movies…but i’ve always been a gamer so when i got an xbox 360 it sucked me back into gaming.

Theolauncher: What kind of books and movies do you enjoy reading/viewing? Any interesting reads as of lately?

SSG_Jettstream: primarily SciFi & and Fantasy, my 2 favorite books of all are Snow Crash – Neal Stephenson and The Dragonbone Chair – Tad Williams. but my latest book was an autobiography by Micheal J. Fox calle Lucky Man. I’ve read so many books over the years between my wife and myself we have shelves upon shelves of books…I away joke we should open a library.

Theolauncher: How long have you been collecting them?

SSG_Jettstream: My whole life…I’m 46 next month, i had a trunk full when i met my wife 20 years ago and we’ve just never stopped.

Theolauncher: Nice! Now onto our readers question. If you didn’t know starting now we are going to have reader questions. People submit random questions all month and if lucky they get their random question spotlighted. This one is my own, If you could be an animal what animal would you be?Jett as a Bird

SSG_Jettstream: Peregrine Falcon

Theolauncher: Good choice. Any final comments for our readers?

SSG_Jettstream: Finding the SSG and the GGN has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me, i never new communities like this existed and I think anyone who sick of all the crap on XBL and reads this should look us up and give up a try.

Theolauncher: Thank you for your time! This was SSG Speaks: Jettstream Edition!

DeadEye was pulled from the halls of MidWorld, where the Gunslingers reside.  Many clans from the Good Game Network use MidWorld to find lone wolves and from there, Good Games, and even a place to call home.  DeadEye was part of, what we call around here, the “Bungie Rush”, and soon found he way into a night of Reach gaming on an epic scale.  Recruits from all over came together and gamed with SSG and the GGN for an awesome night of gaming.  If you missed it, please read about it here: http://roundtable.swordandshieldgaming.com/?p=284.

Since that night, DeadEye has been a faithful Apprentice here at SSG, and now that all the other Knights have been sharing the battlefield with him, we know that he has earned his place here with us at the Round Table.

-Jay

PS. Be sure to stop by DeadEye’s profile thread and congratulate him.

Theolauncher: Greetings Jayman
SSG Jayman: Heyooo!
Theolauncher: I like to just start off with the start of SSG. We all read your blog post on the history of SSG. I like to take a look back with you and say, when you started off SSG did you expect it to grow to the extent is has thus far?

SSG Jayman: No, honestly I didn’t. As most people have read (http://roundtable.swordandshieldgaming.com/?p=405) I basically started SSG to give myself and the Allies FTW crew their own home. It was never meant to be “exclusive” to Allies FTW, we always wanted to recruit and give lone gamers a home. But now, having almost 30 Knights and a handful of recruits all committed to SSG is amazing. SSG and the GGN are inspiring people, all over our forums I see people posting ‘Good Game’ to each other and it makes me feel good to help propagate that.

Theolauncher: What really began your growth as a clan? You started off as a handful of people and now as you said you have a pretty big community. What would you say really made that transition possible?

SSG Jayman: Over time we’ve always had a slow influx of people from various sources: friends of friends, co-workers, and then we have people with cool random stories that find us. We have had two major increases since we began, one when we started and one recently. Early on, we recruited a TTL Ally, CodeMonkey76, and he soon became a Knight. Code was part of a clan that fell apart plus he had he own “community” of sorts over at www.commonsensegaming.com, and that brought us about 6-7 quality people that we also soon made Knights. But more recently, we got a lot of newer Knights from what we affectionately call the, “Bungie Rush”. Basically Halo: Reach has brought a lot of people to Bungie.net and from there gamers find their way to the GGN or TTL specifically. Since TTL is closed for recruitment, a lot of the GGN clans (SSG included) head to the TTL forums to recruit those gamers that found their way to TTL looking for a home.

Jayman Fighting Grunts

Theolauncher: Interesting. Something I adore myself if the theme of SSG. What lead you to pick camelot and knights?

SSG Jayman: I have always been intrigued by the story of King Arthur and the Round Table, even as a boy. When I found TTL and saw that they were based off of the Stephen King series ‘The Dark Tower’ I loved what it brought to the clan. The King Arthur theme fit in every way, it set the tone for the clan. Arthur and his Knights are the definition of chivalry, and they stand up for what is right. SSG is a shelter for gamers that are sick of dealing with Xbox LIVE and some of the monsters you can run into. We uphold chivalry and fight against all the modders, cheaters, griefers, and hackers. Going with a theme, I feel, gets clan members more engaged. Instead of just being a “member” you are a Knight. It’s not just our forums, it’s Camelot. The history and mythology gives us a lot of people and places that we can incorporate into the clan. I’m still looking for the right time to bring Excalibur into the picture. ;-)

Theolauncher: Very nice! Now we all know Jayman as a leader of SSG the founder. But SSG Speaks is really about the player behind the controller. On your thread it states that you are “paramedic by trade and I run a local computer company”. Can you dive into more detail on that? Do you save lives by day, play halo by night, and find time to run a computer company in the twilight hours? haha

SSG Jayman: Sure. Growing up I wanted to be either a Police Officer or a Firefighter. My parents, strangely, hated the idea of me being a cop and chasing “bad guys” all day, but were just fine with me running into burning building… ;-) Now here in St. Louis to be a Firefighter you have to be a Paramedic as well. So I started my schooling in that direction. I worked as a volunteer Firefighter for about a year while I was going to EMT school, then once I got my EMT license I started working in an Emergency Room full time and had to give up the volunteering. I worked in the ER for the next 8 years and towards the end got my paramedic license, since then I’ve been working on an ambulance for the last two years. Working in the hospital and in the ambulance gives you pretty flexible hours, so in 2001 I decided to start my own computer company as well, STL Computer Help. In the past I’ve always been the go to guy for family and friends to get computer help. Time and time again, everyone always wanted to pay me and wondered why I was even a paramedic at all… So I took it to the

Jayman Ridin Dirty

next step and really got my computer business off the ground. Being in the medical and tech field is great, they are two area’s that the general population know little about so demand is high. The medical field is great because I literally get to save lives at work, and there is no better feeling than that. But the computer business is rewarding as well. Most consumers hate their computer, because they don’t understand it. Errors, viruses, incompatibilities, etc plaque the industry. I do my best to educate consumers on their computer and get them running as best as they can. I end up teaching a lot, to my patients in the field and my clients at home. As far as gaming goes, I’m fortunate enough to have a great wife that understands how important gaming is to me. It is so much more than just playing Mario on a NES these days. Gaming has gone social thanks to the internet, and Xbox LIVE. Now all my good friends that I never get to see that live in different States or countries can get together over LIVE to play Halo or even Uno and just catch up with each others lives. It used to be that in order to have a “guys night” you’d be heading to a bar or out on the town. But now I can sit in my living room and have the best of both worlds, I’ve got my family at home with me and I can virtually game with friends that could be hundreds of miles away.

Theolauncher: Seems your a busy man doing what you love. You say wife. Now I beg you to forgive me for asking but are there any little Jayman running around?

SSG Jayman: We both can’t wait to have kids, but none yet hopefully soon. We’ve got two dogs a Westie, Milo and a Yorkie, Dexter (named after the serial killer cop) that get all of our attention currently. So much so they have their own blog. www.dailymilo.com

Theolauncher: haha cute. Got any parting words for the readers?

SSG Jayman: Sure. It’s tough to balance a clan, life, and work, but it has been so worth it. The Knights here at SSG are truly some of my best, closest friends and I wouldn’t trade that. Just knowing that SSG and the GGN have helped so many gamers that would have otherwise given up on online gaming is a great feeling. So to my SSG Knights, thanks for helping spread the ‘Good Game’ you rock, and to newcomers reading this: what are you waiting for? Head into Camelot and start your journey today, you’ll be glad you did. – SSG Jayman

Theolauncher: Thank you for your time! This was SSG Speaks: Jayman Edition.

One day in September, we had a stray cat wander into our boards. This was no ordinary cat, very strange, you see.

The special thing about this particular feline was… that he was Ergonomic Cat*. Strange, but friendly, Overlords, Knights and Apprentices took him in and fed him and, like all cats… well that was the end of it. This orange tabby wouldn’t leave. He kept coming back for more and more and soon he just simply became part of the Castle.

This Ergonomic Cat was indeed quite special. Having taken it onto himself to undergo the trials of Knighthood, he proved himself more than to be an Ergonomic Cat, but a fierce warrior, valiant, and trustworthy. And so it was that history was made on November 5th of this year and we forged the first set of armor four feline friend!

…And then something even more odd happened. As the Cat donned his new armor he mutated-nay- evolved into the fierce creature from the stars we know simply as… the Wookiee!

Welcome to Knighthood, SSG Wookiee!

Ergonomic Cat , SSG Wookiee has ran the gauntlet and come through a Knight. He has been a good friend, ally, teammate, ready to provide support or a laugh. SSG is glad to have him as the newest Raider!

…No really. We are.

Feel free to get to know the newest Knight to SSG!

*Not actually a cat.
